2009 Fall Conference Navigating Clinical Landscapes
September 11 & 12, 2009 | Tapatio Springs Resort, Boerne, Texas

Speaker:
Nina Rovinelli Heller PhD and
Terry B. Northcut PhD

Synopsis:
Many clinical social workers have struggled with competing
demands in practice regarding prevailing theories and interventions. Drs. Heller
and Northcut, trained in psychodynamic social work, were intrigued with cognitive-behavioral theory and technique. Moreover, while discussing difficult treatment cases, they identified methods to complement the strengths of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral work including the importance of the worker-client relationship, life influences, and briefer targeted interventions, respectively.
